TOP 10
Here is a list of my 10 favorite fiction books of all time:
01
Stepping Heavenward
By Elizabeth Prentiss
This book details the glories of Christ and the hardships of overcoming sin and temptation in our daily lives. Because this book was written in the mid-1800's, I was surprised that the book resonated with own thoughts and actions so well. Elizabeth Prentiss was truly an author who understood the intricacies of human nature and equally, the sanctifying power of Jesus Christ.
Favorite Quote:
"Our course heavenward is like the plan of the zealous pilgrim of old, who for every three steps forward, took one backward."
02
A Tale of Two Cities
By Charles Dickens
Truly a classic that has withstood the test of time, A Tale of Two Cities is just as riveting and thought-provoking a read today as it was in 1859. Dickens is truly a master of storytelling--and in such a way that his characters embody the most human elements we both cherish and despise. In the depictions of London and Paris, political irony is interwoven through this historical record of the French Revolution. It is saturated with intrigue, betrayal, love, shame, and ultimate sacrifice.
Favorite Quote:
"Crush humanity out of shape once more, under similar hammers, and it will twist itself into the same tortured forms. Sow the same seed of rapacious license and oppression over again, and it will surely yield the same fruit according to its kind."
